Toronto Light Festival: lights come on to warm the hearts

Toronto light festival: il distillery district

The lights of the Toronto Light Festival come on today. Now in its fourth edition, it has become a fixture in the Torontonian winter. It was born with the spirit of creating a magical, special and, above all, bright environment in a world of darkness and negativity. A corner of the city that for 45 days lights up with beautiful colors, giving off positivity and serenity. This festival encourages anyone to leave the house, even if at 20 degrees below zero, to find warmth in the lit streets of the Distillery District. A visual journey, a sensorial and fun adventure. A way to gather and challenge, in some way, the coldest and darkest months of the year.

Where and when

Starting today, January 17, Canadian light artists and artists from all over the world will illuminate the facades of 44 buildings on the Mill Street of the Distillery District, with real works of art. Projections of lights and colors designed to warm up hearts and cheer up the faces and souls of visitors. It will be possible to admire these plays of lights every day until March 1st. Wait for the sun to go down, when the sky darkens and the atmosphere becomes more and more magical, to turn on the lights. From Sunday to Wednesday they will be on until 9pm, while from Thursday to Saturday until 10pm. The historic district of Toronto, therefore, for over a month will become an open-air gallery that everyone, young and old, can visit for free. Winter nights in the Canadian metropolis cannot be brighter and warmer than this.

Americans are also three other participants.

Luci

We are talking about Lindsay Glatz + Curious Forms. Through their works they try to engage and stimulate viewers. Then Chris Carnabuci will present his Mariposita. And finally, Abram Santa Cruz while mixing technologies, physical interactions and 3D environments involves viewers in active and passive roles. The Lumus Instruments come, however, from the Netherlands. Their creations combine drawing, architecture and technology. Toer comes from the Netherlands too with his experiments that are truly fantastic. Squidsoup, from the UK, with digital technologies creates experiences to live.
